  1. I have never had a pedometer register over 10000 steps. Mostly because I didn't walk that much but also because the thing would reset when I leaned on it wrong. In any event I made it!! :lb21:
  2. Wow, congratulations on the 55 pounds. That is awesome! I'm sorry you are going through this. Hopefully the doctor can give you something to help. I don't know what it's like so all I can do is sympathize. Take care and let us know how you are doing
  3. I use fitday.com too and I love it!

    My "baby"

I remember those days. I have 4 and the youngest is starting kindergarten next week. I will be crying this year too but it will be tears of joy. I need to have time to complete a thought!
  5. Good luck vix, not that you need luck, they are awesome. The only thing I regret about it is I didn't get a picture of Dr. Martinez! lol I am eagerly awaiting your next post to hear how great you made out. Safe journey and bon voyage :lb21:
  6. Welcome! You have come to the right place. Read, read, read and you will be empowered by the knowledge you can acquire from this forum. :lb14:
  7. I had about 10 days off work but that's because I had vacation time. They didn't know what it was for. I didn't have pain afterwards, sore I guess. At about a week or 2 I got really sore and it took me a few days to figure out why it was the worst yet. I had pulled the overgrown weeds out of my garden for about 3 hours. I guess it was too much. As soon I as quit that it got good again. I was really pleased with the amount of pain, I should say lack of it. I took the pain pills they gave me only because I live in the north east and it's a long flight. Once I got home I didn't take any more. Also a woman I work with in her 60's had it done on a friday, locally, and was back to work on monday.
  8. I hope you won't be in trouble cause that means I will too. Let us know how you make out and what's the answer. :lb11:
  9. Special K2o water really filled the gaps for me. It has 50 calories but it has 5 g of protein and 5 g fiber. Hang in there! You can do it. Be strong!
  10. Hi Elaina, I slept on my stomach the first night back at the hotel. I was freezing cold every night after surgery for about a week and that's how I would get warm, by tucking my arms under and sleeping on stomach. I don't remember ever being told not to either. My left side was another story, that took a couple weeks.
  11. Absolutely! I too come here for support as there isn't anyone in my daily life that knows the struggle we go thru. I limit my exposure to "friends" like that. I don't need any help feeling bad about myself. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Be patient with yourself as you learn to turn to other things than food for comfort. It will take time. Somebody remind me of this later when I'm am struggling.
  12. I have the 10 cc band and I wonder how he determines what band to use.
  13. Ok, so I am confused. I have heard that after your first fill you try to eat a regular meal to see how it goes. I have also heard that you go back on liquids for 3 days. Is it both?
  14. I am having a very hard time getting away from this forum! I love it here and I learn so much. There isn't anyone in my real world that gets it like you guys so I want to spend as much time here as I can. Anybody else have this problem?
  15. Hang in there, it will all be worth it. My salvation has been the whey powder protein shakes. I haven't felt weak since the first week because Dr. Miranda said I could add those. That's pretty amazing to me since I have 4 kids and a very active schedule. I heard Dr. Ortiz say that if you cheat the band in the healing phase you may not feel anything at the time but 6 months down the road you will struggle with restriction because your pouch had been stretched. It can only be repaired surgically. That scared me straight. Also I found the special K20 water that has protein and 5 grams of fiber in it! Really helps with the hunger and the constipation. Only 50 calories. I love it! :lb11:
  16. I am not very eloquent so I will just say I agree wholeheartedly with everything Julie said. I too have worked in a hospital for 20 years and the clinic was better than any one I have ever been in. I have been in many others for my own health care as well. You couldn't be in better hands.
  17. I take Zicam whenever I am exposed to a cold virus. It boosts your immune system. There are several forms so you don't need to ingest it. Nose spray and swabs in particular. Good luck
  18. I work with a 60 year old woman who had it done locally on Friday and was back to work on monday. I had mine done on a monday but I only work part time so I had 2 weeks to recover before I went back. I would have been able to go back much sooner if I had to.
  19. You are absolutely right Yorkiemommy. I too see it that way although I didn't have those exact words in my head. I have always known the band would keep me from blowing my diet then feeling bad about it and continuing the downward (upward on the scale) spiral. thank God for Dr. Ortiz! I didn't have to wait until the downward spiral brought me to a bmi of 40, and it surely would have.
  20. I had sternum pressure that I associated with gas for about 10 days but never to that extreme. Walking always helped me. When in doubt always call the OCC. I hope you feel better soon.
  21. Yay for you! =D> this is the very reason I new the lapband would be my salvation! Thank you for sharing
  22. I had surgery early monday morning and flew out wednesday afternoon. I felt fine
  23. Oh, how exciting! I can't wait to post similar results. Way to go! :lb13:
