  1. thanks for sharing. This will help decide when is enough.
  2. I was banded on 8/3/10, have never had a fill, have restriction and have lost 56 lbs so far. I am over 1/2 way to the end of my losing phase and am thinking will probably never need a fill. As Widdlee stated we are all different. There is another bandster that went the whole way without fills and lost over 100 lbs.
  3. absolutely the right way to think. The journey is a great learning process for the rest of our lives.
  4. I do a protein shake as my liquid in the morning. It contains 29g of protein, but thanks for wondering. That is what I love about the forum, people may have thought of things you don't for yourself.
  5. where in Canada are you? It is would be a lot easy to perhaps have some suggestions if we knew what Province to consider?
  6. One of the things I find most interesting since being banded is that I am ultimately making better food choices. That is not to say I don't occasionally have the "bad" food but if and when I do it is in extremely small quantities and then it is over. My mind has finally synced up with my desires and body to become who I am meant to be.

I totally agree. I had my bad moment yesterday with my peanut butter and jelly sandwich on potato bread! I'm over it now and I want to do well. It's important to know that an occasional stry is OK, we're not dead, we're simply on a mission!

oops! stray, people are probably wondering"What is a stry and how do you eat it?"LOL

  7. I think once you meet everybody there, the worry will be gone. They feel like family.
  8. I'm so happy for you, it feels wonderful I am sure
  9. that's me too. One co worker looked at me the other day and said "you're a medium size now, I said/thought not quite/no way in bleep. Came home tried some of my old medium clothes and quess what - they fit. I am giving my larger size clothes away as they get big on me, so I am not seeing them ever again.
  10. Just remember that you may have to do it on line. The wal mart in my city does not carry it in store. But with free shipping to store, the only issue is the wait time.
  11. I was at Costco yesterday and found a Kashi cookie that I am thinking may be a breakfast option. Asking for your opinions. Here is the nutritional breakdown: 1 cookie equals 130 calories 45 from fat Total Fat 5g Sat Fat 1.5g Cholesterol 0 Sodium 65mg Total Carb 20g Fiber 4g Sugar 8g Protein 2 g I'm thinking of this with an additional protein might work for breakfast - would love to hear what you think.
  12. FYI, I just went out and looked at the buy one get one offer and although a good offer, you can buy a bullet with 17 pieces at Walmart.com for $47.00 free shipping to store near you.
  13. FYI There is a company called Syntrax that has unique flavored protein mixes. If you call them they have a sampler pack for around $13.00 for 13 flavors. I ordered some and my husband was so impressed with them he ordered another set. It just mixes up the protein consumption some. Each packet has over 20 g of protein, zero carbs and zero fats.
  14. There is one called Super Whey Protein shots that have 26 g for protein per container. I got mine at Walmart. Also make sure you are taking your vitamins. All my vitamins are the gummy kind and I just sucked on them till they dissolved.
  15. I went on 8/3/10 and did not have any feeling of unsafe. My friend came to the clinic with me the day of my surgery and other than going out for lunch while I had surgery, she stayed there the whole time I was there. I was able to go back to the hotel that night so we both left the clinic around 4 that afternoon and went walking at the hotel. There is a casino within a mile of the Marriott, which was kinda fun. The next day we went to Revolutionary Avenue and shopped for 4 hours. Hope this helps
  16. 'are you getting enough protein and staying hydrated? I am worried about your low energy and just wanted to check in with you.
  17. Tried on more of my "small" clothes to find I have missed a few sizes. Had two people today tell me that they thought I had lost enough, I guess that is good but I am still wanting to go lower.

Great job. I just have a question. The people who told you that you had lost enough, were they men or women? When I lost 65 pounds years ago, the men chimed in and said OK it's enough and the women said OK, maybe 10 more pounds. It's interesting on the gender difference.

They were primarily women, this happened once before when got at the low end of weight, I actually knock it up to their insecurities.

  18. I started eating solid foods with a menu something like this: Morning Egg Bites from www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. She is a WLS individual that has adapted a ton of recipes for us WLS people. I followed that with a lunch of tuna salad with pickles for crunch and fresh veggies. Dinner was similar to lunch or a lean cuisine kinda meal. It worked for me. P.S. the protein ice cream on the eggface website is to die for.
  19. First and foremost I want to congratulate you on your successes. You are doing absolutely awesome. I have also tried to replace my sitting in front of the TV and "grazing" with going out for a walk. My dogs are loving it. We are all getting better in shape. I also am keeping my hands busy with crafts, something I have always loved doing and with the cooler weather it is easier to have them on my lap. My biggest trigger is on breaks at work - everyone in the break room is munching and I find I am starting to want to do it as well. I thought I might go for walks but as I am on my feet all day at work, sitting is a great break. Any thoughts?
  20. There is also a restaurant called El Potrero that is just down the street from the Marriott, it is a big sombero shaped building. I had gone with a friend and we went there for her meals. They had a chicken soup on the menu so I asked if they could just give me the broth and they were wonderful with complying with my needs. I highly recommend them.
  21. no fridge or microwave at the Marriott. They do have a coffee machine however to heat water with. Also, there is both a grocery store and a Wal mart within easy walking distance.
  22. Don't worry to much about this. I know it sounds daunting but if you are diligent on Dr. Miranda's diet, you will succeed. The reasoning behind the need to lose the pre op weight is to ensure a more successful surgery (or at least that is what I remember being told.) You will make it, stay positive, stay on the forum for support and understanding and know we have all been there. Everyone of us was required to lose a percentage of our weight prior to the surgery, I know I felt the same way as you are feeling now. I'm behind you as I know others will be.
  23. The glue stayed on for over a week on my incisions. It was driving me crazy but finally started to come off slowly with each shower. I have sensitive skin as well it being keloid and as such I started using mederma a few days after the surgery. That helped with the itching.
