  1. invest in a slow cooker and then you can just "dump" your items in it and forget about it. One of my favorites is chicken breasts with salsa. If you just cover the chicken with salsa, it comes out wonderfully moist and tasty. I made this pre surgery and it fits well after. I then divide it up into portions and freeze some.
  2. Happy thanksgiving to all my wonderful WLS friends

  3. I have lost 63 lbs so far and have few if any issues. The main thing I have found is my skin in areas of extreme inch loss is "internally itchy" I do not have the issue of enough skin to need to think of plastic surgery but am wondering if anyone else had this and what they did to alliviate the itch? Thanks for any ideas
  4. Though not an expert by any means, my "usual" menu consists of Breakfast of Lean Turkey sausage with cheese on half of a thin wich. (I find most breakfast food intolerable but this has nothing to do with the band, it is a life long issue). I have found it imperative to have the protein in the morning. Lunch usually consist of tuna, pickles and crackers. Dinner varies considerably but focusses primarily on protein then veggies. Hope this helsp
  5. not sure what Dr M recommends but a lot of us take the chewie multi vitamins.
  6. I know that I was allowed a 1/2 cup (I think) of minestrone soup during my pre op (same one as you). That was my life saver.
  7. I to struggle with the what I think is correct stopping point versus what people are saying. I have lost over 60 lbs so far but feel I still have at least 25 more to go. Almost everyone I try and ask, say that they think I should stop where I am at. I am down to 179 and am wearing size 10 or 12. I am 5'8 and really want to go lower. it is a struggle to stay to what I want as I am worried that perhaps I will look gaunt (that is, if they nay sayers are correct).
  8. my soft spot entails a major sneezing attack. With my new knowledge, I know remember this occurring in the pre WLS days and not paying any attention to it.
  9. Unfortunately I am still learning to stop when I get to the just fine stage. That one last bite, bites me every time. What was a fabulous lunch now is not so great.

  10. Wow guite the adventure. So glad to hear you are okay.
  11. Made it into the 170's. Just made it mind you but I AM THERE. Thank you Dr. O, staff and fellow bandsters. My success is largely due to all of you.

      congratulations. proud of you :)

  12. To both of you going down in November. IT WILL work if you follow the steps Dr O tells you. This is the start of an awesome journey, one that will make you so proud. Congrats on your decisions to do WLS
  13. trust us, I think I can honestly say none of us thought we would either. I dropped 4 almost 5 sizes in 2 1/2 months and am just now slowing down.
  14. My stand to convert my bicycle to a stationary bike for the winter arrived today. Now I get to exercise by cleaning/organizing moving the garage around, then I can ride.

That's an awesome idea!!! I was wondering what I was going to do without my bike for the winter. Which one did you get?

I went on line and found Schwinn Mag trainer. It seems to be less invasive to my bike's workings as it uses magnetic force. Spending the weekend storing my summer garage stuff and bringing out the winter garage stuff and will make room for my "exercise area' and start up on Monday

  15. I also use the EAS and you can get vanilla flavored. It is as good as any of them that I have tried.
  16. exactly my experience. I now dread shopping again but for a different reason (I know that it will be a short lived purchase and I hate wasting the money.)
  17. you will, just keep up the great work and it will happen
  18. Reading the label on the EAS Soy Protein, the only "sugar" it lists is Fructose. I purchased it at Wal mart
  19. No, but I did have a lot of them still with tags on hanging in my closet waiting for me. FYI, I have gone smaller than most of them, so I would not spend the money as you never know how fast you will go through the sizes.
  20. I ditto both previous comments. Also, there is a casino between you and WalMart that is fun to visit. The other direction has a great restaurant called El Potrero if you are going with a companion that wants to "really" eat. We went and they were more than willing to strain their chicken soup so I could have just the broth and it was excellent. My companion said the food was to die for. The restaurant is shaped like a sombero and is about 3/4 mile down the road on the opposite side of the street.
  21. Only .5 lb to get to the 170's. Hoping it "arrives" this weekend.

I am in on the mini goals. Had a chemical peel yesterday and am scheduled for laser treatment in 2 weeks. It is surreal to me to have non food goals for the first time in my life.

  22. Chemical peel went fabulous. Two weeks till Laser treatment. Total day of pampering accomplished - hair, nails, peel. Can't remember when I treated myself so well.

Kudos to you on pampering yourself, you deserve it!

  23. Had a consult with a licensed medical aesthetic practitioner this morning. I am going to follow up on her suggestions for reducing the effects of my weight loss from my face. First appt will be for a light chemical peel with extractions. Cross your fingers

I've had great results with chemical peels - specifically TCA.

  24. Thanks for the awesome idea. I'll be trying it on my next day off
  25. I was banded in August this year. I had, as most of us, serious doubts and considered backing out of the surgery. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE WORSE MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!! For me what made it worth it was my own self image. My blood pressure is back to normal, so is cholesterol, I feel so much more energy and it is so exciting to be back in the clothes I want to wear. Right from the beginning I told people what I was doing and that it was because I am a food addict. I was always able to diet for 30 to 45 days, lose 20 lbs then at the end of that time frame, i would cave and not only gain the weight I lost but more. I still am a food addict but I am in recovery. I know that I may always turn to food for comfort but my choices are changing and I now have more will power to override the mental needs. Hope this helps
