  1. Well this is 3rd day preop and I havent stuck to it at all. Today has been an emotional roller coaster. My inlaws are not going to support me in getting the lap band. They feel it is dangerous and expensive, and an excuse for not having the self disipline to follow thru with a Biblical way of eating. I know I have these issues that is why I need the lap band. To put me back in control of this mess! My mom is willint to fly to Oregon from NewYork to watch the kids. She has seen my battle with obesity and knows I have done everything in my will power to kick this gluttony. I know God can do all things, he can even make this body healthy, but it is I who continues to fail. I am sick of the constant battle for years and years. this decision was not made lightly or without a cost. The details are extensive and unneeded. Are there any christian lapbanders out there?!?!? Is the lapband an excape for those who lack in faith? How much can a person endure?
  2. Day 2 of Pre- OP I weighed in this morning @ 243 lbs which is 2 lbs lost forever. It is so nice to know with all of my heart that this is the last time I will have to loose these pounds. I have spent all of my adult life gaining and loosing weight it is a relief to think this battle is won now all I have to do is give it time to catch up with the health that is to become. Verse of the day- Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. HEBREWS 10:24 Breakfast- Veggie soup broth Snack- Peach and Blackberry smoothy I will come back to post tonight after the food is eaten.
  3. I have read that the liquid post op diet is the biggest kicker to getting us off the plateau. PRE OP diet- one week before LAPBAND Surgery- IM so excited! Breakfast- Veggie Soup Broth Snack- 1/2 Peanut butter Sandwhich, 1/2 gram cracker Lunch- Veggie Soup - onions, garlic, carrots, celery, parsley- salt & Pepper boiled and blended- Snack- Peach & Banana Smoothy Dinner- Veggie Soup - onions, garlic, carrots, celery, parsley- salt & Pepper boiled and blended- I noticed food is starting to run right thru me. Has anyone else noticed this on the pre op? yep, feeling head hungery. Tummy grumbly, But I know it is worth it. maybe this will help kick your body into gear.

  8. Well, I am just over a week off from flying to San Diego. This whole trip to Mexico will be an brand new adventure! I am SOOOOO excited! I was going to take the trip with my mom to get my Lapband from Dr. Kelly. She offered to come with me not to get her own lapband but as moral support. Well, as money seems to flow( or not flow) I just cant afford the extra ticket. Is there anyone out there woh happens to be going at the same time? I am not to worried, I know God has a plan. Maybe I will meet someone on the way that happens to be in the same boat..... Soooo, I am just about ready to start my pre-op liver shrinking diet. Dr. Kelly said I only need to be on liquids for the last 3 days before the surgery which would be the 16th to the 18th. But I REALLY want to make the most of my results so I am thinking of getting started on monday instead so I will have been on liquids for one week. But I dont want to prematurly lower my matabilism. I am hoping I will be able to stick to a liquid diet. I know the reason I am fat is because I have an addiction to carbs ( LOVE breads and Pastas) But this is how I ended up in this situation. I am ready for a change and I hope the lapband will give me the physical "Check System" to not eat as much and all those carbs! SO here we go...... At the brink of when Dreaming and Doing meet. Stepping out in courage...... And faith, Knowing this body is to be a Temple of The Holy Spirit. I long to be a vessle of Glory not shame. His child created in the Image of God. -- Serving a God of Love -- Philippians 4:12-13 (King James Version) 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Praise God!

  10. yes, Life is very much won or lost in the mind. That is whay God stresses the importance of faith. My dod use to say Mind over Matter. What you think you will become. I know from experience that the kind set of a person will greatly affect the outcome. In faith.... If we eat like a little person we will become little. If we run lik a fast person we will become fast. If we exercise like a strong person we will become strong. If think like an Achiever we will Achieve. Success Start in Faith and In the Mind This is why being around positive people, and a peaceful environment promotes balance and health.
  11. Hey Lindsay, Who did you go see in Mexico? I am going to Mexico Too, it is just way way cheaper. And the Dr. is very good. I think they have come a long way in Mexico to make it safe. Some even exceed the US standard without breaking the bank.. How did your surgery go? Any results yet?

    Pre-op Diet

I too am in the pre op diet phase. It seams like everyone has different dr. recquirments to get ready for their operation. Dr. Kelly gave me this pre-op diet outline........ You will need to follow this simple diet for 3 days before your surgery. Some patients with higher BMI’s will be asked to follow a different diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. This is necessary to help shrink the liver and make the surgery easier to perform. Please do not eat anything on your day of arrival until after all testing is completed. After testing you will be able to eat until 08:00 pm the night before surgery. Allowed foods (3 day pre surgery diet) All kinds of liquids Water, tea, lemon water (take at least 3.5 litters a day) Water, tea, fruit juice drinks, natural fruit beverages, chicken stock, vegetables, cream soups, skim milk, yogurt, jelly (gelatine desserts). Same liquids plus pureed foods a day (a first stage of Gerber sized, strained). Mashed fruits, vegetables, cereals (oatmeal, rice, potato, noodles, mixed). Please avoid and/or limit salt intake. It will keep the swelling down after surgery. Do not smoke at least one week before your surgery and don’t take aspirin. After your surgery we will provide you personalized care, giving attention to identifying your needs and evaluating outcome. I hope it helps to know what is being required of others also. I am thankful for the online forums so we can share and encourage eachother.
  14. I know the feeling! My surgery is on may 18th. Dr. Ramos Kelly is my Dr and he requested High Protiens and liquids on the last 3 days. But I know I want the best results so I started the HIGH protien today which is exactly 2 weeks before I get on the plane to go to San Diego. I WOULD SUGGEST FOLLOWING YOUR DOCTORS REQUEST TO THE T. He has evaluated your body and knows what he needs. I know it is SOOOOOOOOO hard. But it is not just about the weight. We have to shrink the liver so the dr.s can work around it. I have heard of people bein post poned because of the liver being too big. YOU CAN DOI IT! Think of being able to go swimming and not feeling like everyone is looking and laughing when they turn their backs. We have all been their! Liquid diet has to be worth it. Not easy but worth it. We can be strong! It is just for a couple more days.....
