I hope you're are getting the vitamins you need...... you don't want to make yourself sick and\or weak before surgery. Take care!! I weighed 214lbs at the start and weighed 208lbs on my surgery day and Dr. Miranda was happy with that. I called her a few days into my preop diet and told her that I was getting light headed and she had me cut out my morning shake and replace it with an egg and toast. I felt much better then. Best wishes, Darlene

What is an edoscopy?

First of all, Welcome!!! A fill is just that, the band has a "balloon" around it that is inflated with saline which makes the band snugger around your stomach. Mammamichelle has previous post that show the port and how it's done. Hope that helped!! Darlene

Thanks Jenn!! She will, she's like a little frog!

See you there!! I'll be with Hubby and daughter. The hotel is really nice and the pool is huge and beautiful! That's why I wanted to stay there, Mikayla wants to swim the the pool.

Just let Rene know that you want to stay at the Lucerna, I'm staying there on 5-29. Darlene

Lap Band Storyline on a Soap Opera

I won't even watch GL anymore, I hate the way they are filming it. I don't mind the "real" look, as far as being outside or in real places. I hate the constant camara movement and extreme close ups!! Makes me motion sick!! I heard they use hand held camaras to get that effect.... they lost me as a loyal watcher!! I do wish Ashlee luck and best wishes though!! :cheerleader: -
I wrote to Rene and he wrote right back. He said that anyone that requests to stay at the Lucerna can stay there, it wouldn't be any problem. I wrote back and said that I request to stay there the night of 5-29.

Me too.... good luck! Let me know if you find one :lb20: Darlene

6 days post op and this is how i feel
fat2nrml replied to bigmanny's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I had gas pains for about 2 weeks. Another bandster pointed out that what we think is gas pains may be pain from our bands healing. I noticed when I was first banded that if I drank cold drinks, it seemed to make my shoulder and collar bone area hurt. When I drank warm or hot stuff, it didn't bother me as much. I stuck to drinking room temp water instaed of ice or refrig water. Everyone's different, it might help though. There are other bandsters that had what seemed like extra swelling and had trouble drinking. Make sure that you're getting enough fluids, don't let yourself get dehydrated! Call or email the OCC, they are quick to answer. I was also concerned with the pain around my port area [i emailed Dr. O about it] it felt like a tugging pain from the inside. He said that it was normal during the healing process, but I was to watch for redness and swelling around the port area [signs of infection] Mine stopped hurting slowly over the next few days. I've been banded since 3-25 and my port area is still a little tender, but I think it's stitched to your muscle so I'm sure it'll take awhile to heal completely. Hope that helped, best wishes, Darlene -
I'm gonna be pissed too cause I'm bringing my hubby and daughter and she wants to swim in the pool at the LUCERNA!! I'm sending an email to Rene and requesting to stay at the Lucerna.... that's what I paid for when I got my package!! :ireful2:

That's a good question!!!.... I haven't really thought about it but it IS a loss, emotionally. I ate when I was happy, sad, mad or bored. I knew from the begining that that was going to change, but didn't realize how it may affect me. I haven't had any issues yet [i was banded 3-25] but they may come. I had a wonderful love affair with food for many, many years and now we broke off the relationship. We're not as tight as we used to be, we're drifting apart... SEE YA!! All kidding aside, I hope I don't have any major issues missing food, but I'll keep reminding myself how much better I look and feel, not to mention my health. I'll be interested in reading other's answers to this.....

Relax and enjoy!! Best wishes and tell them all we said HI!! Darlene -
I spent one night in the hospital and one night at the Lucerna Hotel and flew home the following day. I was sore for about 2 weeks, but nothing major. I was not hungry for about 10 days after the surgery, but I made sure I drank alot of water, juice, tea and ate popcicles. The day after my surgery I was out shopping on Revolution Ave for about 3 hours. I had a bottle of water with me and kept on sippin'. Hope that helped!! Darlene

Private or Public Banding
fat2nrml replied to Musiclover's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I only told my Hubby, 2 daughters and one friend. I didn't want to hear all the comments about the surgery and getting it done in Mexico. I still have'nt told anyone, but I'm going to after my first fill at the end of the month. I also think I'm going to say that I had it done in San Diego... save the "mexico lectures." The one friend I told bugged me for over a month, telling me not to go and she was afraid. I was sorry I told her but I finally told her that it was booked and I was going... end of story. Everyone's story is different, I guess it's what each person can handle from family and friends... to each his own. I'll tell one day.... -
Good luck!! Make sure you get ENOUGH calories..... :good3: I'd like to get out of the 190's also, but gonna wait till I get my first fill to get rolling. Best wishes!! Darlene

It's not easy, believe me!! The only people I told are my Hubby, 2 daughter's and one friend. I have their support, which means the world to me! I live in a small town were my husband was born and raised. If his family knew that I went to Mexico for lapband surgery [any kind of surgery] they would have hounded us to death! I do plan on telling everyone after I get my first fill at the end of the month. I don't want our girls worrying about keeping "Mommy's secret". When I do tell them, the first thing I'm going to say is "don't say a word, it's done and over with and all's well." I know I won't have their support, but I don't care. I can't imagine getting my band removed because I didn't have a good support system. I wonder if those ladies know about this forum?? I know that I can come here to discuss anything that's going on with me and I really appreciate it! No one else know's exactly what I'm going through except all of you.... I LOVE YOU MAN!! :lb12:

Things I'm looking forward to doing
fat2nrml replied to jena's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Jena!! Best wishes for your surgery on thursday!! The main thing I'm looking forward to is being able to get up in the morning and NOT dreading going outside for fear someone may see me. I can't wait until I can think, I WANT EVERYONE TO SEE ME!! I know that we shouldn't let our weight rule how we feel about ourselves, but I do. I want to feel comfortable in my own skin, I think that would be an awesome feeling! :cheerleader: Darlene -
To all soon to be Bandsters..... I went alone on 3-25 and had an awesome time! As soon as you walk into the waiting room at the OCC, you've met friends. > :lb16: As soon as I sat down, the introductions began! I was the first one called back that day, so my meeting and greeting was cut short, but we all chatted later too. I met a fellow bandster and her friend and went shopping with them the day after surgery. You won't be alone, there's no way! Enjoy your trip, I know I did! Best wishes, Darlene

Hello, I remember reading your story before I got banded and was a little nervous about getting it done. You must have been scared out of your mind when that happened!! You're a brave woman for going through this surgery again, I'm sure it was a "freak" occurance that your band slipped and now you can relax and let the new band work for you. :lb4: I know I'm a little nervous when I eat too fast and it starts to hurt. I got chicken stuck once and thought I was gonna die! You sound as though you had your band working very well for you before, and you'll do it again!! :lb24: Best wishes, Darlene

I was told not to worry about weight loss until after my first fill. This is the time to heal and get a feel for your band. I'm trying to make good food choices and not to over eat [i still do some times] and I'm walking. I don't like exercise but I realize I have to move. My daughter swims for a local YMCA and she has practice 3 times a week and I walk while she swims. I'm satisfied with staying the same weight for right now, at least I'm not gaining. The weight loss will come, be patient and try to make good food choices and try to get the calories you need. Darlene
