  1. Also, you may not be getting ENOUGH calories and your body's in starvation mode. Try to count how many calories you're getting in a day. I believe we're supposed to get 1200. Don't worry though, I'm not losing either, I'm maintaining. I go 5-29 for my first fill. Chin up, it'll work out. Darlene
  2. Yes, definately call the OCC!! And do let us know what is said and how you are!! I drank sips right after surgery and ate popcicles with no problems. I went shopping for 3 hours the next day and took a bottle of water with me and sipped it the whole time. I drank hot tea, coffee and water after that with no problems. You don't want to get dehydrated, and by the sounds of it, you're well on your way!! Please let us know how you're doing!! Darlene
  3. I just wore the gown they gave me, it covered everything. I took the paper panties off shortly after surgery and put on my own. I took a robe and slippers and didn't wear either of them. They gave us paper booties to wear to walk around in. Best wishes, Darlene
  4. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SWEETIE AND MANY, MANY MORE!!! :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :cheerleader: :girl_dance: Darlene
  5. They banded 9 people the day I was banded [one man and 8 women]!!!! They're good!! No worries, Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez are fabulous!! Darlene
  6. Welcome all May bandsters!!! > :-h =D> :lb24: :lb21: :lb11: :lb10: :lb16: :lb9: :cheerleader: :girl_dance: You'll be in the best hands!! Best wishes and keep us updated!! Darlene
  7. That's the fill center that they're talking about toward the begining of this thread,... the concerns of them hurting theport or tubing then we'd be screwed. I'm going to call around Pittsburgh again sometime. I wish you were going to be there too, it's so nice to meet fellow bandsters!! Maybe if we can find a good local fill Doc, we can schedule for the same time. Take care, Darlene
  8. Thank you EmilyB! I'll keep that in mind. I was hoping to find a doc who does fills with fluro though. I worry !
  9. Going into Mexico the driver didn't stop at all, they just waved us through. [Guess they don't care who comes INTO Mexico.] I had my meds in my carry on bag and I put it through the xray machine and no one said a word, I just kept walking through. No one asked me why I was in Mexico when I was leaving, they just asked for my picture ID and my birth certificate. Just have your ID ready, I went through in less than one minute. You go through, back outside and walk a short distance and the driver meets you at a pay-parking lot and off you go. The longest part of it all is waiting [in the van] in line. I passed the time chatting with Francisco, he's really nice and speaks very good English. Hope that helped.... anything else, we'd be glad to help!! :-h :lb11: Darlene
  10. Hi Mona, I think we talked before also..... I'm scheduled for May 29 [Thurs.] and we're flying home the next day. Did you search around Pa. for a fill Doc? I wish I could afford to go back to Mexico for all my fills, but don't think I'll be able to. I called some Doc's in Pittsburgh last year and they said they'd do fills, but I lost the numbers!! I'll have to start calling again, I guess. I also hate the thoughts of being on the planes forever, gosh, it's a long ride!! I hope I get a good fill that will last awhile! Take care Mona and best wishes with your fill! :lb11: :yes3:
  11. Hi Lisa, I know what you mean about comming a long way.... I'm worried too. I would like to keep going to TJ, but not sure if I can afford it. I'm hoping that I hit my sweet spot with my first fill :lb17: Wouldn't that be great???!!! I'll probably be one of the people that have to get fills and unfills every other couple of months!! :lb12: Good luck to you too Lisa, Darlene PS I sure hope that your weren't in the middle of those tornado's???!!! I said a prayer this morning when I saw it on the news. God Bless you all!
  12. I weighed 214 when I booked my surgery and I weighed 208 the day of my surgery. Just try to stay focused, I'm not sure if they'd turn you away, but try to lose. I emailed Dr. Miranda like 2 days into my diet and told her I was getting light headed and she told me to cut out the morning shake and have an egg and a piece of toast instead. That really helped, the light headedness went away. Email Dr. Miranda if you're worried, she's really sweet and will help you out. Best wishes and :lb4: Darlene
  13. I think the fill is considered free but you pay like $100 [approx] for the fluro. So if your driving into TJ yourself, you'd only pay the $100. I got the package deal cause I didn't want bothered with getting rides, the OCC handles it all. Darlene
  14. I'm luckily laid-off right now, but when I over did it around the house, I felt it! If I lifted too much or bent and pushed myself, I had to sit for awhile. When I cleaned house about 10 days after my surgery, I would do a little, rest a little...... I guess the best advice would be listen to your body, don't over do it. Darlene
  15. Hello, If you purchase the fill package, the xray's included in the price. I'm going the end of May and bought the package with the one night stay at the Lucerna. They provide the trans to and from the airport and the clinic.
  16. Where are you from Lisa? I'm from central Pa. and am looking for a fill Doc. I'm going to the OCC for my first fill next month. =D> Darlene
  17. Relax and enjoy a little YOU time! The time does pass by fast and you'll be home before you know it! Best wishes, Darlene :lb10: :lb11: :lb9: :cheerleader: :beach:
  18. I agree,.. the scars aren't bad and no one but hubby are going to see them anyway. [in my case.] I have 4 small scars about 1\4 in. long and the port scar is about one in. long. [5 total] Mine, at one month post op, look like little scratches. They don't give you stitches, so it's just a hairline scar. Hope that helps! :good3: Darlene
  19. Hello Lea, I felt safe while I was there. I traveled from Pa. to have my surgery and I went alone. I made sure my door was bolted at the Lucerna, but I do that at home too. I was lucky to meet a fellow bandster and her friend and we went shopping on Revolution Ave. the day after our surgery. I had a nice time and didn't see or hear anything "bad". There was 2 pick up trucks with armed, masked police officers riding around while we shopped but one of the shop owners said they were good guys and here to protect us. All the shop owners are nice [make sure you deal with them, never give them what they originally ask for.] I never felt scared or threatened at all. The area where the clinic and hotel is located is very nice. Trust me, there's nothing to be afraid of. I'd stay in pairs or groups just to be safe though. [My opinion.] Just relax and have a good time, it is nice there!! Best wishes!! Darlene
  20. That happened earlier this afternoon and my stomach still hurts a little and my throat's sore. I've only had water and tea since and tomorrow and staying on liquids. I bought some drinkable yogurt and some more soup. Live and learn, I guess!! Unfortunately I had to do it the hard way!
  21. Thanks Evette! I don't think the food was stuck, I'm not sure though. If it was stuck at first, I think it's moved through now. My stomach hurts a little now but doesn't feel like a lump in there. At the time it was happening, it felt like my esophagus [?] was full of chicken and it was backed up to the back of my tongue. [Gosh, this is hard to describe!] I'm going to go on liquids for at least one day... no more fast eating for me! :bad: :punish:
  22. I was eating some rotisery[?] chicken and I think I ate it too fast. I got an awful pain in my chest and right up the back of my throat. My mouth started watering and it felt like the chicken was right behind my tongue and was going to come up. I leaned over the sink and gaged [sorry about any visual experiances you may be having] my mouth watered really bad and the chicken would not come up. OMG did it hurt!! It only lasted about 2 minutes, but felt like forever. Is this what other bandsters describe as "sliming"? I never had a problem with chicken before [i'm one month postop.] Should I now go on liquids for 2 days to let everything settle down? Thanks for any and all help.... that was a little scarey! Darlene
  23. Don't think the worse, it may just be a cyst. Try to stay positive and please keep us updated!! Hugs and best wishes, Darlene
  24. :-h =D> > :lb10: :lb9: :cheerleader: :girl_dance: You go girl!!!!!! Best wishes, Darlene
  25. Thanks for your post Shannon, it does help us all feel better!! Congrats on your weight loss!! AWESOME!! =D> I hope to do as well as you! Sorry about your band leaking, that must have been a scarey time for you, I know I would have been going crazy! Keep us updated, fingers crossed that the thicker solution continues to work! >
