  1. You'll meet all kinds of people at the OCC!! I met two ladies at the center and they asked me to go shop with them on Revolution Ave. the next day. We had a really nice time and I sure slept good later that day and that evening! Best wishes!!!! Darlene
  2. I'm having the same problem..... God do I miss eating!! [Over-eating, I guess I should say....] :popcorm1: I know that keeping busy is key, but that doesn't stop the "thoughts" that haunt me. Why does food have to be so good??? :lb6:
  3. Thank goodness!! I missed them!! But OMG... I don't like the suicide one!! :girl_cray: Hey,.... how did they get that pix of me on the broom???
  4. Hello!! So glad your surgery went OK! =D> Hang in there, you'll be banded soon! =D>
  5. I can feel mine now [three weeks post-op] Mine's still tender though, so I can't push too hard on it. It's not protruding so you can't see mine by just looking.
  6. Oh yeah,... take a book or a few good mags with you!! I read on the plane and waiting between flights. I read Valerie Bertinelli's new book in 2 days! :-h
  7. It feels good to chew again, huh Kimmie????!!!! My weight has stayed the same since I started eating real food, I think my body's just getting adjusted. We're on our way!!
  8. My belly liked warm\hot stuff to drink, iced tea and ice cold drinks seem to make my shoulder pain worse. I drank lots of room temp water... the bottles of water in the hotel are room temp. I took boulion cubes, but didn't use them. I drank a cup of coffee and broth at the hospital the morning after my surgery, then tea after that. Best wishes.... they're great at the OCC!! =D> Darlene
  9. I had all your worries too when I started my research and found Dr. Ortiz's site! I remember a lady, not too long ago, was wondering if the people on this site were "planted". We reassured we were not plants and all had been banded by Dr. Ortiz! {Well, some are banded by other Doc's and come here for support and advice} When you watch the tape on the OCC web site that tours the patient rooms, lobby and surgical area... that's exactly what it looks like!! I never saw a medical building \ hospital that was SO CLEAN! We have a local hospital that looks like crap in comparision!! Truely! You'll see!! You'll come on the forum after your surgery and you'll post how awesome the center is and how your care was top notch!! I will bet money on it!! My flight was the worse part of my experiance, I got air sick.... Please don't worry, it's a waste of time... focus on YOU and the new life you'll have!! All's good!! Darlene PS I have to get my ticker thing up... I also suck on the computer, I'm lucky that I'm able to log on! :lb12:
  10. My boobs weren't stuck either [they must of held them up! :cheerleader: ] Did have the iodine stains for over a week though. :lb4:
  11. It doesn't bother me at all, actually it makes me smile and try to do better!! :lb25: I too am staying the same since I started real food, I don't think I'm over eating, but have made some bad choices. I learned some lessons, from my mistakes and from the mistakes of my fellow bandsters and am forging ahead. :lb16: PS I LOVE THIS FORUM!!
  12. That makes alot of sense!! I had my appendix out in Dec. 06' and you're right, I first felt my discomfort in my belly button area! :-? I thought I had intestinal flu, then when the pain moved to my lower right side I called the Doc and wham bam out came my appendix!! My shoulder pain is all gone now..... 3 weeks post-op. :lb4: Darlene
  13. Well said Paula Bee!! :lb24:
  14. Don't ever think that way... this is a big step and I too needed [and still need] reassurance! :lb18: All's good!! Darlene
  15. I knew in my heart that I was going to die if I didn't do somehting. Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and strokes all run in my family. I recently "aquired" high blood pressure.... and so the story begins.... I want to be here when my girls have my Grandchildren, I don't want to miss out. I got to the point where I would make excuses not to go to family functions or any kind of outings [not to mention hiding from camara's!] because I didn't want anyone to see my fat butt!! I decided I didn't want to live this way any more, I WANT TO LIVE!! I was tired of being miserable all the time and letting my weight rule my life. I'm going to rule my weight and in turn rule my health! Most of us on this Forum have been banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. He banded me on 3-25-08 and I'm happy with everything assosiated with my suregery from start to finish. Any details you want to know, feel free to ask. This forum is awesome and the people here will tell you straight up!! :lb16: Best wishes and no worries!! Darlene :-h
  16. I weigh once every 4 days or so. I worry that I'll let the scale set my mood for the day and the scale doesn't always tell you what you want to hear! I've stalled a little now that I'm eating real food, but I know my weight loss will start up again soon.
  17. :lb9: :lb10: :cheerleader: That says it all!!! > Darlene
  18. I made my appt. through Claudia... hope they didn't get their wires crossed??? How far in advance did you have your surgery scheduled? Everything with the OCC went smoothly, the only problem I had was when I flew into San Diego they diverted our flight to Los Angles because of fog. That meant a 2.5hr bus ride back to San Diego so I didn't get to the Lucerna till 2:30am and I had sugery 7:00am!! I was so tired and had motion sickness from the long flight!! :lb1: Hopefully this will go better. :lb11: Darlene
  19. :lb14: Hi Denise, Good to hear that you'll be there too!! Do you mean that your appt. is May 29th?? My appt. is at 1:30 also.... isn't that odd? Anyways..... I will fly into San Diego at 11:40 am and will have the OCC pick me up, take me for the fill then I'm spending the night at the Lucerna and flying back on the 30th. I got the package deal for $279 See you there!! :lb16:
  20. Gotcha Snowbird :lb14: >
  21. I agree Kimmie... Gosh I wish this were easier! :lb20: Thanks!!
  22. I do understand how hard it is starlight1..... I didn't do extremely well on my diet either. I lost 6lbs. before surgery and thank goodness that was enough. It's still a daily struggle for me, I just started eating and over did it a little. This forum, for the most part, really helps and encourages you through your struggles... am I right ladies and gentlemen??? :lb16: Darlene
  23. Wow Snowbird..... I now feel like a whiner cause I got on the forum and posted my sruggle with the post-op and pre-op diets. I wish it were that easy, just do it, if it were, I would be thin without the band! I also feel stupid for posting my pain [not bleeding out my a$$, thank God] and asking if any of the other bandsters had it before I got in touch with Dr. O. Wow
  24. Hey Mona, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about!! I'm so afraid that I'll go back to my old habits now that I'm on solid food! It's so easy to slip right back into it.... I had too much for dinner and now my stomach hurts cause I probably stretched it. I'm going to drink a protein shake for breakfast tomorrow and eat a light lunch and take it easy for dinner. Gotta keep reminding ourselves [in my case, continuously!!] why we got banded!! We can do this Mona, we have to stick together and help each other through the tuff times. That's why I love this forum so much, I have no one else but you all that understands!! > Your Bandster Buddy, Darlene
  25. When's your first fill Michelle??? Just made mine for May 29th! I'm hoping that it helps right away... gotta get into "band mode" and start listening to actual hunger and not boredom or head hunger. I CAN DO IT!! WE CAN DO IT!! =D>
