OH YA KIMMIE [i'M GONNA YELL!! ] IHAVE TO GET MY BRAIN WRAPPED AROUND THIS!! I'll calm down now! Lol! I just made my first fill appt. and made my plane reservations for May 29th!! I posted it in the "fills in TJ" to see if anyone else is going that day!! I have to get settled into eating less and moving more but i'm convinced this is going to work for me!!

Gosh, I wish I wasn't hungry!!!! ( I think I'm mostly fighting head hunger though!! It's so hard! I'm eating quite a bit now and am not liking it at all. I had a pork chop, couple TBS of stuffing & couple TBS of mashed potato and gravy. YUM!! My stomach hurts now cause I probably stretched it..... need to keep myself busy.

I thought that we needed a pass port to go to Mexico by June '08, but I emailed Carolyn and they extended it to June of '09!! I was worried cause I thought I'd have to get one to get my first fill in June. =D>

I just realized that WE chatted on the other forum!! :-h [im a little slow on the draw!] I know what you mean about feeling like you wasted money, I did LA Weight Loss..... Lost almost all the weight I wanted, then lost my job and gained back all the weight +. I'm so glad I didn't give up on lapband, the Doc's here in the states wouldn't even talk to me. I don't remember how I came across Dr. O's site.... so glad I did though!! Darlene

I got banded almost 3 weeks ago and still have glue. It must be some pretty good stuff! If I wouldn't have picked off some of the peeling pieces, I'd have alot more!! [i'm not much of a picker.] Mine look really good. I had 2 other laproscopic surgeries done in '06 and those scars are hardly noticable and I didn't put anything on them ever.

The pain meds from Dr. O didn't do anything for me either. I took them at night cause they made me tired. After that I took tylenol during the day [only a few times] and tylenol PM at night [also, only a few times.] I also read that you should only take those other pain meds for a week..... I'd be afraid to take them any longer. Sure hope you feel better!! > Darlene

Hey Mona! Your port is the biggest incision you have out of the 5. [it's just below my left breast] I had kind of a tugging pain in it at first but then I got that real sharp pain and soreness. I wrote Dr. O and mine seems to be getting better. That's awesome that your's doesn't hurt at all!!

That would probably help... would it hurt anything though? I saw BEBE's thread about binding and wondered if the constriction would hurt anything?? Mine seems to be getting better, but poor Mindy sounds like she's in agony!! Just had a thought... is mindy [or anyone having this port pain] having any trouble holding down fluids or food? I start eating tomorrow but so far haven't had any issues. [i cheated and had pain... my fault and I'm behaving] I never PB'd though. Thanks Michelle!! :-h

This must happen to alot of bandsters!! :-? I really haven't pushed myself I must have turned my belly just right that day to flair up my port area. I hold my port area now without even thinking about it.... kind of supporting it. LOL... yeah, I'd havee to agree about the stinky dog!

Wow Mindy! Mine isn't that bad!! I sure hope nothing major is wrong. Mine bothered me for a few days, and is still sore but has gotten a little better. Mine usually feels better when I'm lying down. I put my hand over my port area if I have to bend. Clynn mentioned that mine could have something to do with a stitch. I'm hoping to go back to Dr. O in June for my first fill also. You will have a long travel time... I did too, I live in Pa. It was a little tough but I walked some at the airport between flights and read Valerie Bertinelli's book while I waited. I recommend Phazyme ? pills for the flight, Gas x strips didn't work for me. Best wishes and have fun!! :-h Darlene

Do you ladies notice if you hold your hand on the area and apply pressure, does it help? It seems to make mine feel a little better, like I'm holding it in. The lumps aren't protruding, but when I bend over it hurts more. Thanks for the replies, let's keep each other informed on how this turns out. Mine feels a little better now, but still grabs at times.

Hello!! My name's Darlene and I went to Dr.Ortiz for banding on 3-25-08 and I went by myself!! :-h I had no problems and would do it again. Actually, I'll be going for my first fill [hopefully the begining of June] again, by myself. Like Michelle said, you'll meet so many great people at the OCC and the Lucerna that you really don't feel like you're alone. You can read my story on the "newly banded thread'" labled "banded on 3-25 by Dr. Ortiz, went by myself!!" I was nervous about the whole thing, but I wasn't afraid. I locked the door in my hotel room and put the latch bar over and didn't feel afraid at all. [i do that at hotel's in the states too] The staff at the Lucerna are so nice and helpful. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, they'll bend over backwards for you!! If you have any other questions, just ask. I remember how nervous I was before going, all kinds of thought and worries going through my mind. You'll be in excellent hands!! Best wishes, Darlene

I emailed Dr. O and he emailed me back and said that this happens sometimes during the healing process. He said to watch for swelling or signs of infection [which I don't have] and he'd like me to come down and be seen for my first fill. I'll have to get the money together some how. Hello All, I've had port discomfort since my banding on 3-25 [which I know is normal.] Last night I was in the bathroom and turned slightly and a pain shot through my port area and made me gasp. I've not been over-doing-it, I'm not even working right now. I've been doing normal household chores but nothing real strenuous. I noticed that I have 2 egg sized lumps, one right on top of my port and one down to the lower left side of my port [these are under the skin and not protruding.] Now when I bend or turn a certain way, that pain "grabs" me. Even when I sit too long or if I'm slouching, which I do alot, it's uncomfortable. My incisions have healed nicely and the bruising is almost gone. Not that I'm hoping anyone else is in pain, but is anyone going through something similar? I'm kind of in a financial bind right now and although I want to go back to Dr. Ortiz for my first fill, I'm not sure when that"ll be. I thought I'd run this by all of you before calling the OCC. I knew that she had been banded, but hadn't seen her recently. I remember an interview she did where she talked about her weight and the struggle she's gone through all these years. Wonder what happened???? :-?
