I weighed 214 when I started my preop diet and I weighed 208 when I had the surgery last week. Dr. Miranda's exact words were "good, good job". I had my surgery and everything went smoothly. Hope that helps. :-h Darlene

fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
So glad to hear you're comming along!! It would be terrible if you got dehydrated now! I'm doing good, a little sore [especially the port area] but have been able to drink everthing so far. Fingers crossed! Keep us posted and keep sippin' > Darlene -
Hello, My BMI was 35. I'm 5' 5.5" and weighed 214. I just had my surgery last week. So far, so good! The Doc's here in the states wouldn't even see me, basically said I wasn't fat enough. I have blood pressure issues and diabetes runs in my family. I wanted to nip it in the bud, and I have no regrets! Darlene

fat2nrml replied to WAgal's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Have shoulder pain off and on [surg. 3-25] Mine didn't get as bad as others described. No oxygen before surgery [unless after I went out] and don't remember getting any after. -
Talked to Dr. Martinez yesterday
fat2nrml replied to Kim2BSlim's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hang in there Kimmie and keep sipping! I can't imagine drinking by the teaspoon, but you gotaa do what you gotta do!! Did he say whether you should drink warm or cold? Warm works better for me. Sending good wishes and hugs your way....Darlene > -
Hi Sphynxmomma, I was really worried when I first left Pa., but everything went great. The only minor problem I had was with the airline, not the OCC. My plane was diverted from San Diego to Los Angles due to fog. Then I had a 2.5hr bus trip back to San Diego. It sucked, but I called Rene from LA and told him the problem and he already knew! The driver met me 2 minutes after I arrived in SD!! My experience was awesome and I'd do it all over again!! =D> Darlene

Starving/Having a nicotine fit! April 8 band date...
fat2nrml replied to lynzz's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hello Lynn, I know it's hard, but you'll do fine!! > I kept reminding myself that I'd be able to eat again and I needed to stay focused. I reminded myself that this is really a SHORT amount of time compared to all the years I spent fat, discusted and pretty much in hiding. I've never smoked, but I do consider myself addicted to food, so I can understand. Try to keep yourself busy.... you have less than a week!!! Best wishes, Darlene -
started the diet any one else?
fat2nrml replied to The Nicholsens's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hello Christine, I weighed 214 when I started and I weighed 208 when I had my surgery. Dr. Miranda said that I did good, so that must have been enough. I'm 5' 5.5" I had no problems with my surgery and am doing well now. I know what you mean about the cravings, but it's worth it. Best wishes!! :-h Darlene -
Port tightness, tugging feeling from inside???
fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks Clynn & Ms. Teacher! I took notice to the posture thing too..... I tend to slouch and it bothers me more when I do. I stand when I'm at work, so it won't be so bad. [i'm laid off till August] I'm trying to make myself sit up straighter though. -
Port tightness, tugging feeling from inside???
fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks Ladies!! I was hoping that it wasn't anything serious. It's kinda dull ache and tugging feeling at the same time. Glad to hear it's normal though..... I've been being good about my diet. My belly likes the warm and hot stuff better, I've found. I tried a small amount of Cream of Wheat this morning and worked out well. I watered it down with warm skim milk and had no problems at all! I'll try the heating pad also... -

Hey Hanna, How are you feeling?? I'm doing pretty good. I noticed that my belly likes warm or hot stuff better than cold. Gonna try to stick to that! I agree about the support here, I chose not to tell people about my surgery so I'm pretty much alone here. I only told my Hubby, 2 daughters and one friend. I did'nt want to hear any negative comments from people. Now I'm finding it very hard to keep my secret, I want to tell everyone! I told Hubby that I may come out with the truth to everyone soon. That makes me really appreciate the support here, no one else understands [or know's, in my case.] I AGREE, WE ARE GOING TO LOOK FANTABULOUS!! Shhhh!! Darlene -

When did you decide to have lap band surgery
fat2nrml replied to The Redhead's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I think my turning point was watching my health starting to deteriorate as the pounds increased. My joints hurt, I got a touch of arthritis and my blood pressure was steadily increasing. I started researching Lapband about 1.5yrs ago and happened upon Dr. O's site. I read everything I could find about him. I knew quite a few years ago that I would not lose the weight and keep it off if I didn't have some kind of help. Yo-yo dieting all my life made me realize that this was more than just "over eating", I have a serious problem with food. I called Carolyn last year and wanted to set up the surgery, but could not come up with the money. I then decided that when we got our income tax this year, I was scheduling the surgery. I had to go to the ER one day because my leg was swollen and hot [thought I had a blood clot] and my pressure was 179\101. I had already had my surgery scheduled with Dr. O, but it made me realize "I could die from this"!! I want to see my girls get married and I want to have Grandchildren one day. I don't want to end up having a heart attack or stroke and then having my hubby or girls having to take care of me and wiping my butt. I think there's alot of reasons people turn to surgery for help..... I just know that I can't do it alone. Thanks to Dr. O I won't have to. I truely feel this is going to work for me, my life is changing as we speak!!! PS Michelle, you look FABULOUS!!!!! -

Hello Lynna, You'll do just fine on Sunday, don't worry!! I know that's easy to say, but it's true. Just listen to the Doc's and nurses.... walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. I still have the gas pains in my shoulder off and on, but not bad. I feel sorry for alot of the ladies on here, they're really hurting. I'm sure you'll meet some other Lapbandsters while you're there to hang out with and\or shop with. I did and i had a really nice time. Best wishes and I'll be thinking about cha!! Darlene -
