I can't get below 200, help!!!

Recommended Posts

I seem to be at the weight that my body prefers. I was this weight after my first child and my second. I can manage to get to 199 or even 198 but then the next day or so I am back at 200 or 201. I know that I have to drink more water and to exercise. I got another fill a couple months ago thinking might jump start me but no such luck. I have started exercising but I don't how often I should be to see weight lose. If I don't get enough protien could that be a problem. I have not been drinking protien shakes lately. Any other tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You said it yourself.... You are not getting in your water and exercising. Those are tools to use with the band. The band doesn't do it all.

I was struggling with my second fill too so I bit the bullet financially and just got my third. I am very happy with my restriction at this point.

Adjust your thinking and start again. Good luck! You can do it!

I too cant get my body to go down below 200. I had surgery one month before you, and have almost the same stats as you. So I definately feel your frustration. I AM drinking my water, and walking at least 5 miles on treadmil every day and of course following all of the lap band rules. I thought after getting my third fill I would see some weight loss, but haven't!. I know that the lap band is a tool, but this tool just doesn't want to give some of us a break. At this point this tool is just keeping me from giving up. So hang in there my friend.

This post has me shaking in my boots! No matter what weight loss program I have done, I get to about 200 pounds (203 now) and that's it....no matter what I do, no more weight will come off. I have lost this same fifty pounds three times now. I was 199 pounds for ONE DAY about three years ago then back to the 200-205 zone.....exactly where I am now, boucing between 205 and 206 every other day:( Can your body get "stuck" at a certain weight? What can you do to get over the hump? I don't need a fill, I have good restriction most days.

Sabrina:)

I understand exactly how you feel. My body REALLY wanted to stay at 200. To me, dipping below it was a big milestone. But, I did plateau at 200 for about a month. I agree with what the others have said - drink more water - get a fill if you need it and I have found that when I plateau it was because of the protein thing...when I would kick up the protein, I would get over the hump. I weighed 187 this morning and it feels great! Hang in there! :D

Hugs to you. First of all, let me congratulate you on your weight loss and if I've read correctly you've been able to keep your weight off since July. I think that's half the battle. I haven't been banded "yet" but your surgery date was a significant date for me. On that day I weighed 212 (same as you). Today I don't even want to talk about it. lol

I started at 294 on 3/12/07, dieted on my own and hit 212 a year and a half later. When I hit that number I lost my motivation, I know why but it's a long story.

To shorten another long story, I was fitted for a bridesmaid dress as 212. When it came time for the wedding (a month ago) it had to be taken out 4 inches on each side.

Yikes.

I'm pretty confident I'm up to about 260 right now. My pre op starts soon and I haven't been in Onderland since 1996. I did get to 200.2 in 2002 but as I wrote, 5 years later I was at 294.

I know what it's like to feel like that number won't come fast enough. Hang in there and consider the stabilization in your weight a victory.

I think once you accept where you are as success, you'll be motivated to incorporate a few things to help the scale move. I do believe that "stress" can stop a scale from moving or worse yet, cause the body to gain weight. I don't think there is documented proof, but I was a professional weight loss consultant and I've seen it.

Hang in there and take a deep breath. Make your goal 189 and focus on a 10 lb loss rather than a 1 or 2 lb loss. That will help change your thinking. Trust me.

I am having the same issue....I am sooo looking forward to the 199 mark, however, I have been stuck between 202 and 205 for the last three weeks. I am taking the advice to increase my protein and water intake and get that exercise in.....I hope to be back with a praise report SOON!!

I understand how you feel. In 2005 I dieted and exercised hard and lost about 65 pounds in about 4 1/2 months. My lowest weight was around 208 and no matter how much i worked our or dieted, I couldnt get below that. I was a comfy size 12 at this weight (i am tall and hold my weight well) but I wanted desperately to get below 200. I held this weight for about 6 months then put on about 30 pounds...... I kinda gave up on working out and ate everything i wanted..... SO I got the band. lol

I am hoping to be under 200 pounds by the end of June this year for my sisters wedding, which will mean losing about 20 more pounds. I hope I dont get stuck again!!

Robynn that was a GREAT Post and Cindy GREAT idea. I too have been "fighting" to get down to 199. OMGoodness Im not sure if I was this in High shcool, maybe evenn JR High. I am at 213 and have been stuck around 213-216 for about three weeks and it is SO frustrating! I have tried not to let it bother me and just keep doing what I am doing. This week I have started to up my water intake (this has always been an issue for me) and up my protein intake as well. I spoke to GNC and they gave me some good info on the protien issue. I am goning to try to increase this for one week and see how it goes. I have been afraid of getting "too much" protein, however they state unless it is over 150 grams a day not to worry bout it. This to me still seems very high, but I am going to give it a shot. I am not however going to take that much protein, but I am going to up it for a week.

Maybe we all could agree upon a weigh in day to report back to this thread and post some ideas of things we did different from week to week.

Good Luck everyone!

Carrie

That sounds good I am also gonna try my best to drink mostly water instead of mostly other things like pop. I am also trying the increase in protien and I just started the Slimin6 exercise program today. Good luck girls, we can do it.

Thanks so much I do tend to forget that losing and keeping 21 pounds off is an accomplishment it just seems like am bad cause I can't get past that point. I need to stop punishing myself and be proud of what I have done so far and keep focused on continued wieght loss.

I was 203.8 today, but that is expected from day to day a little variation. The way I do my weights is that once I go down to a certain number then I don't record it again if it goes up a little...I just wait until the next "down" to record again. So as far as I'm concerned I'm still the 203.2 from yesterday :)))

I have been stuck at 205 for several weeks. Went in and saw my Doc, he filled me again. So now 7.5cc in 10cc band. Yea, now I'm restricted and lost 4.6 pounds this week. I'm still trying for under 200 as well. Good luck everyone!!!

Good luck to you all!!

this reminds me of another board I used to belong to when I lost weight before, we did "Challenges" and we would keep the same thread going for those of us in the challenge and each week it was something different such as 30 min daily exercise, drinking an extra bottle of water a day, etc... but each Friday we would weigh in, and that friday weigh in really kept me accountable - So did the support from the other ladies.

Anyone interested in doing something like that?
