Four, 4, vier, fire, cuatro, chetiri, quattro, yon, quatre

    By LoriBecky

Four... no matter what language you say it in... I just fit into a pair of size FOUR jeans... yes, me! I love thrift store, bargain hunting. Its a huge thrill to me to find something that i love for less then $10. From my amazing, full length wool coat for $8.88, to my wool peacoat for $6.88 to my Ralph Lauren cords for $3.33 or my Stuart Weitzman pumps for $4.50... I love a bargin, but I have to admit, pulling those 4's off the endless jean rack and looking at them and thinking "no way" - t

End of Week 2 Post Plication: Aug. 3, 2012

OK! Today is end of week 2 for me. I have lost 2 lbs. for a total of 24 lbs! This week was a challenge. I was already taking in 8 ozs of pedialyte daily when I showed signs of dehydration. This week I noticed some slight signs again and determined to stay ahead of it I upped my pedialyte intake to 16 ozs now. Still showing some signs, and have upped my liquid intake. I have seen some positive changes this week. I notice that my favorite jeans, jeans that I could NOT fit into before pre-op diet a

One Month Post Plication: Aug. 17, 2012

I keep forgetting to add my forum updates to my blog updates, so here is the post plic 1 month update from last Friday: It's been a busy week for me. I am happy to report though that at 1 month post plication, to date, I have lost 16 lbs! I am very happy with my progress and just continue to feel this was the best decision ever. I have been taking in 64 ozs of water since the required day we were to do that, week 1 of soft foods I believe it was. I enjoy my water intake. I have found it somewh

Practice Makes Perfect

So WOW. How to handle this all? Right? It was overwhelming for me to think about going from liquids to soft/regular foods. Liquids were easy because all I had to do was to make sure that I had liquid in my hands at all times throughout the entire day. I simply finished one kind and grabbed another. Easy PZ. For me, in order to master something totally foreign to me, while adhearing to the golden rule of no liquids within an hour of meals requires clarity. For me, clarity means scheduling. So t

Inbetweeners

So 2 weeks ago I had a really difficult week. I noticed that my emotions were going up and down like a rollercoaster. I was ranging from upset to super sensitive to hurt to mad. It wasn't happy. I read online and discovered that when you lose weight your fat cells release hormones and that can make you mood swing. Especially if you are losing weight more rapidly than usual. To remedy this, I went out and bought some Rhodiola tincture. A friend of mine put me on to these a few years back when I

Single Digit Clothing Size

I did some shopping on my lunch break today, and I saw this really cute dress on clearance with an additional 30% off... I fell in love with the dress, but it was an 8 and I just knew there was no way it would fit, but I had to try it on to see if there was a way I could make it work (when a really cute $50 dress is on clearance for $14 you at least have to try, even though you know you'll be heartbroken) well... it FIT, it fit it fit it fit! I still can't believe it! I haven't been in a singl

140's woohoooooooooooooo

I officially hit the 140's yesterday. 149.6. Barely in the 140's - but I'm taking it! Especially with all the extra sweets and eating out I did over the weekend for my birthday and I still lost weight - woohoo! For sure the weightloss is slowing down, but I'm happy about that since I'm closing in on my goal! woohoooooooooooooooooo Have I mentioned that I love my sleeve 1-866-376-7849 ext. 81

Happy Birthday to me!!

I took a few days off to see my youngest get baptized in the ocean and to celebrate my 47th (gulp) birthday. I had such a wonderful day yesterday. My husband and I spent time shopping and just having a wonderful time. We had a delicious lunch at a small italian restaurant and when they offered to bring the dessert I told her I couldn't have gluten so they brought me a fabulous FABULOUS flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. It was SOOOOO delicous and I had 3 bites and was in heaven a

I am soo excited , just banded on July 25th

ok so i am very excited because I just got back from mexico today. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz on July 25th. I am currently feeling pretty good, but still sore from the air, and learning how to deal with things like burping. Only had some water so far and a little broth. I weighed myself when i got home and although i havent eaten anything I am still the same weight I was on the day of my surgery which is 268. Is this common? not that i was expecting to lose much yet but i would have thought a pou

PPD5 (Post Plication Day 5)

This is Post Plication Day 5 for me. I had my procedure July 20th. I had to stay an additional 2 days near the OCC because my stomach swelling was slow to reduce and I was having some phenomenal gas pains. Wow, can gas really really hurt! Everyone at the OCC was fantastic and the Dr.s took good care of me, very reassuring and very thorough on follow up testing to make sure that what I was experiencing wasn't anything to be concerned about. And as it turns out, it wasn't. I got home yesterday and

The coordinator has no clothes!

I was going through my closet today trying to figure out what to wear to an event and realized that nothing in my closet fits me right! I haven't been this weight since before kids (and since my oldest is 21 that gives you an idea!). I have things that kind of fit me, but everything is too big. I'm thinking of heading over to a thrift store or consignment store to pick up a few things since I hate spending $$ on clothes when I'm not sure where I'm going to end up! I purchased a few things to

10 Days and Counting (posted on forum as Here's My Story, What's Your Story)

Good Evening Fellow PLay Cats (Plicators) & WLS-ers: I wanted to share my story with you here. My decision to be a PLay Cat (be plicated) came out of a need to be healthy. My health. I'm 41 and I had this super candid conversation with my mom not long ago. She's had a mild stroke (10 or so years ago) and a major heart attack all fairly recently. But her health decline? That started when she was 47 (20 years ago). That's the age she became diabetic. The big bad D. As a result, her health to

12 Days and Counting

Twelve days to go until plication. (why did the 12 days of Christmas just pop into my head?? ...12 pounds before op, 11 lbs the next week, 10 lbs week after.. ok i'm stopping now ) Today I went out dancing with friends at this really hip inclusive club. The music was fantastic, the ambient was perfect and there was the sweetest breeze. Every one had a drink in hand. This was my first "2 weeks to go until procedure" temptation challenge. I am not a major drinker, but I do like to social drink.

wicked games

I've been working out everyday for the past 2 weeks. I've been eating healthier and I stay under a calorie goal thanks to "my fitness plan" that I'm constantly on. But the scale hasn't been budging! I feel like all my hard work isn't paying off and I just want to eat any sort of junk food I can get my fingers on! I mean I feel healthier, faster, and stronger. I feel like my stamina has sky rocketed. Several weeks ago I would climb a flight of stairs and get a bit short winded but now I can climb

24 Days and Counting!

Day 24 I am counting down until I have my plication procedure. This is the first day of my blog. I feel very excited/nervous [excervous??] about everything. I find myself catching sight of my body in the mirror as I walk by it. I wonder. . . what ME will emerge post plication? How Exciting! I can not wait to find out! I am happy about my decision to take control of my health. I began my pre-op dietary instructions 2 weeks ago. I chose the protein shakes and the low fat frozen dinner with ampl

Bandiversary - today would be been 6 years!

Today would have been my 6th Bandiversary. I still feel like celebrating it, even though I no longer have my band. My friend helped to get me out of a dangerous part of my life, got me into a healthier weight range, helped resolve my health issues associated with my weight, and we had a great relationship for a long time! The best thing my band did for me was got me to OCC and Dr. Ortiz. The experience has changed my life forever, and I don't know how to express my gratitude enough! Even

quick entry - blood work

Just a quick note, I got my test results back and nothing is wrong with me (well at least not with my blood work!)... so that's good! I just wanted to report that before my band surgery 6 years ago, my cholesterol was up over 270 my number today was 137 My LDL - the bad cholesterol is only 69 which is remarkably low! woohooooo My HDL - good cholesterol is a little low too - still within normal - but should be higher, but this probably has a lot to do with my extremely sedentary lifestyle o

Busy Busy - but success!!!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting too often, my youngest is graduating Jr. High today so the last 2 weeks have been extremely hectic! I'm looking forward to next week when I won't have to wish for a magic wand so I can be 2 places at once! I just wanted to report, that I got on the scale today, and I'm down 30 pounds so far! Lower then I ever got with my band and not even 2 months out from my sleeve revision. I haven't decided on where I'd like to end up, I think I'll let my body tell me

Do your follow-up program

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend. I'm at work, because this isn't a holiday in Mexico If you are an OCC patient, I wanted to remind you to participate in the email follow up program. It helps our doctors stay on top of any issues you may be having, it also helps you to stay on track! During the first month after your surgery, you will get an email every week, then they slow down a little bit, each of them also include a seminar link once you've completed the questions
