Four... no matter what language you say it in... I just fit into a pair of size FOUR jeans... yes, me! I love thrift store, bargain hunting. Its a huge thrill to me to find something that i love for less then $10. From my amazing, full length wool coat for $8.88, to my wool peacoat for $6.88 to my Ralph Lauren cords for $3.33 or my Stuart Weitzman pumps for $4.50... I love a bargin, but I have to admit, pulling those 4's off the endless jean rack and looking at them and thinking "no way" - t

Gallbladder Delays Surgery

Well, my surgery has been delayed. I had to have my gallbladder removed on March 1st and had to wait a full 8 weeks to recover with no complications before VSG could be performed and my son will be graduating bootcamp on May the 16th. My new surgery date is May the 21st. Who'd've thought your gallbladder could cause so much back pain! I've been seeing a chiropractor for a couple of months now and he finally said he thought it may be something else...He was right! I've been having gallbladde

Mon. March 25, 2013: A 9 week, 3 day "trial run"

Hello Fellow OCC'ers, Here I am 3 days into week 36 which for me ends this Friday 3/29. My last entry was at the end of my 6 month anniversary on week 26 January 18, 2013. After that, I decided to go off of my regimental OCC blogging, personal journaling, calorie tracking, way of being and merge myself back into a 'new regular' routine. I wanted to see what that would be like. What I found is much like what I saw posted in the forum. After 6 months I find myself losing and gaining the s

Cheap, thin, and faux tanned - a retail therapy story...

So, I had another very successful shopping trip to Goodwill this weekend. I got a pair of capri's, a pair of shorts, and 3 summer blouses for under $20. I also delivered another huge bag of clothes for donation. Its strange to be picking through through the clothes on the rack and see things you recognize from your closet, but in a good way! Sometimes you think, why did I hold onto this so long? Did that ACTUALLY fit me at one point? or the most common - what was I thinking? lol But anywa

Well on my way!

Hello OCC Friends! 10 days post op with a Band to Bypass Procedure and 25lbs down since the pre-op diet! I have to start off by saying that Dr. Ortiz, his associates and his staff are top notch! As a licensed Health Care Administrator in the United States....I am quite impressed with the quality of care and services I received from the OCC. Since the inquiry, to the consultation with Dr. Ortiz, the seamless process of getting to the OCC, the surgery and the follow-up.... everything was perfe

One Week Post Surgery

So, I'm one week post surgery and feeling pretty good. Still bruised and a bit stiff but other than that, doing a-okay. I'm moving to the full liquid diet portion of the post op and am not sure of how to schedule "meals". Do I schedule the protein shakes/cream soups as meals and then supplement with two "snacks" one between morning and lunch and then one between lunch and dinner? I'm assuming that the meals are to be no more than 1/2 cups of fluid eaten (drink) over the course of 20 minutes

9 Days Post Sleeve Surgery

Surgery was easy breezy! I never had a surgery that went so well. I had one pain pill only because my Mom wanted to go walking and I was feeling a little uncomfortable so I took a pill to get me through the walk. I LOVE my nurse Patti; she is such a jewel. I wished I could have brought her home with me. Ok, here is the problem; Mom and I both caught a cold on the plane coming home on Thursday night which has not been fun. I had 3 terrible days of carbonated drink withdrawal (terrible head

End of Week 26: January 18, 2013 6 Month Anniversary

WOW. What a month it's been! *6 Month Anniversary* I really got out of hand. My holiday eating threatened to undue me. It's really quite deceptive. When I look at my weight during this time, I see that i spent 3 weeks having gone up in ounces with the rest of the time not losing more than 1 lb. That's very different from other weeks. But what really did me in was convenience foods. I began to have GF pizza 3 times a week. I think somewhere in my mind I thought, since it's gluten free pizza it's

End of Week 25: January 11, 2013

The post I did for week 24 was just one day before the end of this week 25 post and the change was a negative. I am up 2 ounces at the end of week 25, so that 8 ounces that I lost at the end of week 24 turned out to only be 6 ounces. I feel really bothered by my weight gains. I have now spent 8 whole weeks in the 6's! That is longer than I have spent at any other 10 lb. period. I looked back on my food journal. While I was staying within my caloric intake, holiday alcohol and the lack of quality

End of Week 24: January 4, 2013

I'm getting a bit sloppy about posting.. and not just that.. Well at the end of week 24, on Jan. 4 I weighed in at 161.2 lbs. I lost 8 ounces from the week before but it's my sloppy holiday 'nasties' that's bothering me. I'm afraid i'm facing my first weight loss challenge. I let some bad habits creep in during the holiday season and my eating has become mental. My means of combating this is to write it here. I hold myself accountable through my blogging. It's the thing that keeps me on track a

Fat Burner Tablets

I'm getting so excited about my sleeve procedure which is scheduled on Jan. 14. I've been taking the Espira vitamins and fat burner from the OCC starting on Dec. 14, one month prior to surgery as instructed. It states to take the fat burner 3 a day, which I have been doing, but noticed today that I didn't get 30 in my bottle. I'm 6 tablets short. Has anyone else experienced this same situation? Just wondered. Have a great and safe weekend.

Plication

I had my surgery on Jan 2. I was so excited and nervous. The staff at OCC were wonderful everything went very fast. From the time I got there from going into surgery. They were great. I can say I was in little to no pain while I was in at the surgery center. Once I left I was a little uncomfortable but that didn't last very long. We got back to the hotel the following morning and rested. Today we returned home and other than feeling a little gassy I feel great. I am able to eat or I should

My daughters wedding... and not fearing the camera

So... my daughter got married last month. It was a beautiful, intimate, very romantic and meaningful wedding. We had it at church in our smaller sanctuary - about 75 guests, we all sat at the reception tables for the wedding. My dad said a prayer. We had dancing (I got to dance with my 85 year old daddy... a treasured moment... no that's not my dad in the pictures, that's my husband!! - OK i switched up pics - that is my husband beside me and my daddy behind me) and a dessert bar and a love

End of Week 23: December 28, 2012

Ok, this is my last blog entry of 2012! As such I think it merits positive reflection. Last year, I brought in the 2012 New Year weighing 221 lbs. I was wearing size 18/20 clothes. I was fat, the vein in my right thigh was throbbing and numbing up, and I felt sluggish, all around awful and was steadily heading to Diabetes in a pre-diabetic state. My health was bad, my spirits were low, I looked blah. This year, I am grateful for the changes that have occurred in my life since my plication at t

Sleeve Anticipation

My Christmas present this year from my Mom will be received January 14, 2013, sleeve surgery. As soon as she said she wanted to do this for me I was so excited. I know someone who had her lap band surgery with Dr. Ortiz, then her Mom, her Dad, her sister and then an in-law all went at seperate times to the OCC for either the lap band or sleeve surgery and all were very pleased with the facilities, doctors and their surgery. I have had no apprehension at all about the surgery. I even watch a

End of week 22: December 21, 2012

I'm super late at posting this. The holidays have been absolutely chaotic true to holiday form. I lost 1.2 pounds this week! Yea! better than the up 2 ozs and up 4 ozs the two previous weeks. I am happy enough with this and still feel like I have the chance at greeting the new year in, in the 5's. We shall see. To next week! (which due to late posting is tomorrow... lol.....)

End of Week 21: December 14, 2012

This is the second week in a row that I have gained weight. Last week I was up 2 ozs and this week I am up 4 ozs, so I have gained 6 ozs in 2 weeks which is not a major catastrophe, but means I am not losing. That part is yuck. I have still had the stomach flu this week. It feels like it's on its way out, but I have still had quite a bit of gas and bloat and other stomach nastiness. Also, for my birthday a week or 2 back I didn't get to celebrate so did that this past week. That consisted of go

Reflux?

As is fairly typical after a sleeve gastrectomy, I was having some reflux issues occassionally, even while using my acid blocker medication. Now remember, I'm not a doctor, but in doing some research, and from my own experience adding a probiotic to your daily intake (or like me 2 or 3 during cold/flu season) seems to have really helped this situation. From some of the literature i've read, after having a sleeve surgery, the addition of a probitoic supplement can be helpful in many ways... a

End of Week 20: December 7, 2012

Wow. This week was challenging. I gained 2 ounces and i'm sooo thankful it was not more. I weighed in every day this week, and at one point (Wednesday) the scale was up to 168!! Luckily I only count Friday's, but seeing the scale go up 4 pounds after my lean and green end last Friday of 164 was pretty frustrating. I had my monthly which took its time falling and I know that contributed to weight bloating, I had stomach flu which was terrible. It interfered with my BMs making it sluggish to non
