Four, 4, vier, fire, cuatro, chetiri, quattro, yon, quatre

Four... no matter what language you say it in... I just fit into a pair of size FOUR jeans... yes, me! I love thrift store, bargain hunting. Its a huge thrill to me to find something that i love for less then $10. From my amazing, full length wool coat for $8.88, to my wool peacoat for $6.88 to my Ralph Lauren cords for $3.33 or my Stuart Weitzman pumps for $4.50... I love a bargin, but I have to admit, pulling those 4's off the endless jean rack and looking at them and thinking "no way" - t

It's the little things

Yesterday afternoon, as I was enjoying the thunderstorm outside, I decided that I should go through my very overpacked closet and pare things down. I had been planning to do that for ages because there were many things in there that I just simply do not wear anymore. However, there were two additional things that happened that I really didn't expect. First off, I started looking at my winter clothes and realized that I likely would never wear some of these items ever again. This was a pretty

Appreciating my dogs

I did 1 hour and 45 minutes on my dog hike today. Thank goodness I have two young dogs who love to hike in the woods as much as I do. My hardest thing with exercise is getting started and they have no problem letting me know when it's time for a walk - 3 times a day, every single day, rain or shine. It was actually snowing this morning when we took off. I figured I would do an hour, but we just kept going. 1 hour and 45 minutes - woo hoo! I already updated the ticker, but I still have two more w

Off to a great start

It's noon on Thursday and I had a great nsv (non-scale victory) today. The scale has stayed the same over the last month or so, but today I tried on a pair of pants that have been too tight in the thighs. I only tried them on because I didn't want to wear my baggy jeans and I it was too cold this morning to wear my capri pants. Surprise, surprise, they fit! And they didn't fit two weeks ago, so I've lost inches even though I haven't lost pounds. I am so happy. This is exactly what I needed to he

8 pounds in 8 weeks

This is my very first blog post. I don't know if anyone will ever read this, but I'm going to use it as a motivational tool for the next two months. I realized today that I have exactly 8 weeks to go before I take a trip in July to see some work colleagues who I usually only see once a year. Last July I was pretty depressed about my weight and hadn't made the decision to be banded yet. I got banded in Sept. and am really happy with the results right now, 8 months later. I'm at 158 pounds right n

The jouney continues, one week post fill...

So, here I am, my first full week of food post first fill...This has been a very interesting educational time..I managed to go through a few emotional moments without overeating to the point of illness, however I did eat for emotional reasons but was able to stop before I was out of control thanks to my new tool the band..this for me has been very exciting on so many levels. At the same time I was given new medications for my heart which have made me feel not well as my body adjusts so for this

I need to lose weight already!!

I guess I have nothin to say because I keep typing, deleting, typing, deleting...I just want to know that someone is out there who has been where I am and they get through this feeling. I will go get another fill, so I can eat less still. There's got to be more to this than the food issues. I am so tired of looking in the mirror at myself and not liking what I see!! How did I let myself go like this? Nobody looks anymore. I hope that changes. Good night.

He was very nice.......... then had additude because I went to TJ to get my band. My weight wasn't high enough to get it here! He was going to do my fill, but said because my insurance didn't approve it, they wouldn't cover my adjustments. He said it would cost about $400. (my mom see's a DR 10

I can't figure out how I am supposed to feel

I went out to breakfast for Mother's Day, had a veggie burger with bacon. That's right. With onion rings. I ate it slowly and got most of it down without pain, never did feel really full, then felt sick all day. I have 5 cc's in my band now so I shouldn't be eating that much but it was like the floodgates opened and I could eat....so I ate. Needless to say, I really haven't lost any weight, what did I expect, that the fat would melt away? It's not, nothing has changed. Except that sometime

May 9th 2010

I have been doing the Pre Op Diet for a week now . I have been totally starving... Grumpy.... It is like I NEED Suger and Bread so bad that I am dreaming of going to IHOP for pancakes with straberries and whipped cream or to the Red Lobster for the cheese biscuits. Lori who answers the OCC phone calls said I can eat lots of salad during this time so now I am filling bowls to the top with veggies. Huge mixing bowls with mushrooms, tomato, leattuce, carrots, green beans, cucumbers etc. I found

Day 30

Day 30 and it has gotten hard to maintain a positive attitude. I am so hungry, but with just today and tomorrow left it would be a great disservice to myself to go off liquids now. So I guess now I will start shopping around for meal ideas. Are family reunion is 4 weeks from today and I have always been the cook, be it stove oven grill or whatever so we will see what which is happens. I got my first compliment yesterday. Someone told me I was thinner in the face. That was pretty cool. I told my

Day 28

Wow it finally worked. Well here I am on day 28 and the last three days are going to be the hardest I think. I have had very few episodes where I have felt these cravings. Maybe it's because I have been planning some things to eat once I start back on solids. I think if it was not for my band and not wanting to go against the advice I was given, I would be trying to eat now. I am still doing protein shakes, soup, smoothies and water. I now weigh 307lbs down from 353lbs pre-op. I feel ok but, my e

A new start..... Lap Band... I am praying this is going to work!!!..... (First Entry) May 2nd 2010

I have never written a blog before so I don't know the first thing about it. It kind of feels like writing in a diary when I was a teenager. Well it is official I have one month before I have my surgery. I am excited along with being scared to death. I started out my day with a Walmart Generic Chocolate Slim Fast for breakfast and lunch and I had a salad and a 300 calorie dinner. I have been drinking so much water I feel I am going to float away. I bought a new scale since wh

1 Month & 5 Days Post Op~

Feeling Great!! Down 13 lbs, not bad. I only have 50 lbs to lose so this is a great start. First fill on 5/13 coming up quick. I'm not going back to OCC, my family doc referred me to the lapband doc here in the clinic I go to. They were more than willing to take care of all my after care. Got me in quickly, exactly when I need my 1st fill, and my insurance has to cover it with my $10 co pay!!! Best part. Eating has been good, no problems. I started my first morning with eggs, expecting

Day 20

Sorry I neglected this. Today is my 20th day since I started this journey, adventure or whatever. Today I can start my Muscle milk again . Yesterday I had my first soup. I was having serious doubts on my 7th or 8th day post-op. I guess I should tell you what happened on the 19th. I got to the Clinic about 7:20am and proceeded to fill out all the paper work and give up the money. I then got my IV put in. I then saw Dr. Miranda and she told me her part, and weighed me 334lbs and set a goal of 260l

Small personal victories....hard lessons

So ok, here I am just a month out with a new band...I am learning many things about myself, my relationship with food, and some hard lessons. In the past month I have only really tested the band three times, last night was my most recent test, and while I felt awful, icky, (need a new word for band overeating), I also learned some things..one; it doesn't feel real pleasant to overeat with the band. You can't sleep, and it (food?) stays with you for most of the next day, or at least the icky feel

GOT BANDED TODAY!!!!!

Just got banded about 8 hours ago. My father and I both had the surgery and all went very well. Cant say enough about the Doctors and Staff. I am now thankful (was pissed off) that my US insurance would not approve the procedure or I wouldnt have found the OCC Team. If you are considering this procedure please do your self and family a favor and schedule it with OCC in TJ Mexico.... Cleanest facality and friendliest staff. The US media has this all wrong as well. Not once have I felt unsaf
